The term Designing for Learning describes an emerging approach to the learning-teaching relationship. The range of ICT-based tools and services available in the learning environment is growing exponentially. Understanding how these tools may be used effectively to meet the needs of a diverse set of learners, and how to exploit their advantages within a range of learning contexts, is now part of the skill-set of every teacher.

Effective design in a technology-rich environment is characterised by activity-based learning, with learners having increasingly more choice over the technologies they use. Promises of enhanced flexibility and improved learning are now being realised through 21st Century ‘new build’ and the adaptation of existing physical environments. This conference considers how learning and teaching practices need to change if these opportunities are to be realised.

The fifth e-Learning@greenwich/conference, aimed at practitioners, developers and researchers in all sectors of education and training, poses a number of questions that we invite contributors and delegates to address;

  • What are current and successful approaches to designing meaningful learning activities?
  • What new tools and services are creating 21st Century learning opportunities?
  • What are the new skills, knowledge and roles required of teachers in order to be effective 21st Century practitioners?

The 2007 LAMS European conference will be held on July 5th/6th 2007 at Greenwich. Thes two conferences will complement one another and if attending both, please ask for the discounted fees. Booking is separate.
